What your gear’s made from and what happens to it after, matters more than you might think.
We’re not here to throw shade. We’re here to raise the bar.
Most people don’t think twice about the materials inside their protective gear and honestly, we get it. You’ve got trails to ride, roads to conquer and challenges to face. But here’s the thing: when you zoom out and look at the full lifecycle of what’s protecting you, there’s a bigger picture worth paying attention to.
At RE ZRO®, we started asking questions: What happens to that busted knee pad after a crash? Where does the foam go when it’s no longer fit for purpose? And can we do better?
Turns out, yes- we can. So we did.
A lot of the gear out there does the job for a while. But it’s often made from traditional components that don’t break down when you’re done with them, usually ending up in landfill. They work, but the planet pays the price.
We created our protection to perform when it counts and to be more sustainable once you’re done with it after your adventures.
RE ZRO® materials, enhanced by TOTO-TOA® are engineered to biodegrade* in landfill environments, where many products realistically still end up. This unique biodegradability is a fail-safe: if products aren’t recycled, they return to zero by safely breaking down into biomass and biogas in an estimated 3–5 years. But don’t worry, it won’t happen when you’re wearing the gear, it only activates under specific landfill conditions (oxygen-depleted and microbe-rich environment).
That’s not about being perfect. It’s about being better than we used to be. And helping you do the same.
We know sustainability can feel overwhelming. But choosing gear that’s designed with circularity in mind? That’s one step that really counts. And we’re here to make that step easier for you.
*RE ZRO® TPE material has been independently tested and achieves the biodegradability of 14.14% over 90 days in accordance with ASTMD5511-18 & ISO 15985 : 2014. For full terms see www.re-zro.com/terms
