RE ZRO® is proud to partner with ECD, a leading brand in lacrosse protection, to launch a new line of covert impact armour designed for the rapid‐paced demands of lacrosse, multi-impact field sports and training. This collaboration brings RE ZRO®’s advanced material science into ECD’s protection portfolio to deliver gear that performs, stays subtle and addresses less visible but critical risks such as commotio cordis.
The new collection will integrate RE ZRO®’s proprietary impact material within ECD’s chest protectors and upper-body armour, offering athletes protection that is both high performance and discrete. The armour remains flexible during motion, conforms closely to the body and activates to absorb energy on impact. At the same time it delivers covert protection — guarding not only against obvious impacts but also the threat of commotio cordis.
Commotio cordis is a life-threatening event triggered when a relatively low-energy blow to the chest, at a precise moment in the cardiac cycle, leads to ventricular fibrillation and sudden cardiac arrest. Sporting bodies such as USA Lacrosse recommend use of chest protection certified to standards like the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment ND200 to reduce risk. With this partnership ECD and RE ZRO® commit to designing gear that not only resists visible hits but also responds to hidden threats.
“Working with ECD allows us to push the performance of our materials in one of the most demanding sports environments,” said Alex Yellowley, at RE ZRO®. “Every product has to deliver impact absorption, flexibility and breathability without compromise. Together with ECD, we’re creating protection that feels invisible to wear, performs when it matters, and helps keep players focused on the game.”
ECD has long served the lacrosse community with player-driven design and performance protection. This collaboration marks a strategic move for ECD to embed next-gen material solutions into its offering and address what often remains invisible in sport-safety conversations. The new line will launch globally in on 11th November 2025 and targets players from youth through to elite levels.
“Player protection is constantly evolving,” said Brian Schaaf of ECD. “By integrating RE ZRO®’s material science we are able to craft chest and upper-body armour that not only feels light and moves naturally but also guards the body in ways that go beyond the obvious. The unseen threats deserve as much attention as the visible ones.”
The partnership between RE ZRO® and ECD underlines both brands’ commitment to innovation, performance and responsibility. By combining RE ZRO®’s sustainable, recyclable impact technology with ECD’s sport-specific expertise, the new line aims to deliver protection that athletes trust, opponents notice and environments respect.
